SPOILERS
I'm going to start saying the hand-drawn scans are great. The little animations are very well made, and the aesthetic choices are on point.
This game is very pretty.
The overall idea of the story is also interesting. A story told in such a way that one part of the story reflects the other part of the story. That was really neat!
There was a bit of a mood dissonance with the neighbor. They were screaming at first, and suddenly turn very understanding and provide story exposition when talking directly with Carlos. I feel that if the monster’s background had stayed a mystery it would have added to the story.
Also, this is more of a me-thing but if the tone at the monster’s presentation had been more neutral or creepy, the monster’s harmlessness and cuteness would have been a nice surprise by the middle/end.
Everything else was great. The reflection of the monster with Carlos in particular added big weight to the story.
It’s hard to pull off having a character whose dialogue is entirely composed of kaomoji, but you really got it to work here. Bake’s animations are cute, as well as its actions described in the text (I liked the part where it ate all the garbage and then spit it up on command). The horror of its appearance sets it apart from other cute mascot characters and helps keep me from experiencing cuteness overload.
I like the idea of Carlos’s behaviour towards Johnny pre-breakup mirroring Bake’s behaviour towards Carlos post-breakup.
I was left with some confusion about the tone of the ending. Carlos does acknowledge that Bake is annoying like Carlos is himself (and Carlos communicates more that he is annoyed than Johnny did), but it’s saddening to see Carlos go back to curling up on the couch being down about himself. Sure, Bake is there with him now, but hanging out with the loneliness spirit that vaguely resembles your ex-boyfriend doesn’t sound like a good thing to be doing long-term. It’s a mixed bag between a sad ending (Carlos is just as depressed after speaking with Johnny and learning why he’s been dumped) and a happy one (he has a friend now and experiences some insight into why his relationship didn’t work out), but those two elements aren’t working together for me as well as they could.
Fun little story. It's interesting that apparently, the main character was a nuisance of a roommate, but then gets to experience the creature as a nuisance as well. Hopefully he can learn from this and get back a normal relationship someday. Although I guess that might be the end of Bake, since he feeds on loneliness.
You did such an amazing job with Bake's animations! The way he jumps and bounces around is so fun, and his design is so weirdly cute as well! There's just so much love and polish in the presentation of the VN, especially stuff like the little sound effects as Bake does his thing, (Also I heard the minecraft door sound in there as well, hehe)
Overall I really liked it, wish it was a little longer so I could see Bake and the protagonist interact more.

Oh my, this was interesting!
There’s a monster in your house, or is there?
